Canada: Winner Garment to offer Milliken Amplitude FR fabrics

Published: 17 Apr 2009 13:19:52 PST

Milliken & Company, one of the world's largest privately-held textile and chemical manufacturers, and Winner Garment Industries Ltd., a manufacturer specializing in custom-designed industrial protective wear, announced that Winner Garment will now offer Amplitude, Milliken's premium, high-performance line of flame resistant (FR) fabrics for industrial workwear to its customer base.

Amplitude fabrics are available now and offered in the following silhouettes: coveralls, shirts, pants, bib overalls, bomber jackets, parkas, vests, smocks and snap-on hoods.

Amplitude is a patent-pending line of premium, high-performance flame resistant fabrics for industrial workwear. The new proprietary fabrics are processed ammonia-free and are constructed of a cotton/nylon blend designed to help mitigate potential injuries due to electric arc and flash fire exposure, while providing enhanced durability and comfort. The combination of these capabilities makes it an ideal fabric for industrial workwear occupations in manufacturing, utilities, electrical maintenance, petrochemical, welding, and steel.

"Our customers want fabrics and garments that provide a substantial degree of FR protection while providing enhanced comfort and improved aesthetic characteristics. Amplitude enables us to deliver just that to our customers," said Ben Wong, founder of Winner Garment Industries Ltd.

Government and industry information notes that the majority of severe and fatal burn injuries are due to the individual's clothing igniting and continuing to burn, not by the exposure itself. According to the National Fire Protection Agency's report Burns and Toxic Gases in Non-Fire Situations, "…during 2000-2003, the U.S. averaged an estimated 318,000 burn injuries per year that were medically attended."

"Winner Garment was looking for a flame resistant fabric that is safe, provides a high level of protection and is comfortable. Amplitude delivers on all levels," said Jack Spoon, business manager for Milliken's Workwear Fabrics division. "We're honored to work with Winner Garment to deliver Amplitude to the industrial apparel industry."

Milliken & Company is a privately held textile and chemical company that employs approximately 10,000 associates worldwide.Having over 2000 patents issued or applied for, the company produces over 19,000 high performance products.

Winner Garment is a leading manufacturer of safety workwear in Canada. Manufacture of high quality Flame and Arc Resistant and High Visibility apparel is Winner Garment's specialty.
